Double Good Days Returns with More All-Abilities Fun for Kids with Special Needs
“Double Good is all about creating joy,” states founder and CEO Tim Heitmann, “and the Double Good Kids Foundation is another way to express that joy. Kids with special needs don’t always have the resources and the programming, and that’s what Double Good Days is all about.”
The mission for the Double Good Kids Foundation, as envisioned by founders Tim and Natalie Heitmann, became real in the fall of 2023 when the first annual Double Good Days brought all-inclusive, sensory-friendly fun to children with developmental differences and their families.
This spring, Double Good Days is returning to the Kohl Children’s Museum in north suburban Chicago on Sunday, June 9, 2024, bringing joy with a purpose to even more families of children with unique challenges.
Letting kids experience the joy of participation
“My son has a disability, so we can’t always attend events,” said Julia R, a mom who took part in last year’s event with her son. “We were very excited that there was a day for kids of all abilities to be able to enjoy.”
This year’s Double Good Days serves up a range of activities delivered by partners and tailored for diverse needs.

A special day filled with exploration and accessible activities
Double Good Days’ activities are designed to include all abilities, ensuring that every child can fully participate and enjoy the experience.
“This was a fun experience for the whole family,” said Danielle Z, a mom who enjoyed last year’s Double Good Days with her kids, “because they could play and have fun without being told ‘no.”
Registration for June 9’s Double Good Days will open in early May. And the Double Good Kids Foundation plans to expand Double Good Days to new locations, sharing the joy of participation with more kids with neurodiverse traits. Click here to stay informed as new information becomes available.
Made possible by the generous support of the Double Good community
Double Good Days is hosted by the Double Good Kids Foundation, which is funded by people from all across the U.S. who purchase popcorn directly on our website. Fifty percent of every purchase made directly on doublegood.com goes to the Double Good Kids Foundation, making it possible for the Foundation to offer special events like Double Good Days.
“It’s an event full of sensory-friendly experiences, from artistic to educational to athletic,” says Tim Heitmann. “It’s just a day filled with joy.
